How to guarantee VM uptime with a "push" type of application?

Hello all,

I wish to ask a question on VMs and availability. I know availability sets are there to ensure an app is UP even if there is a need to reboot. But I have a scenario where the application is like a push kind; meaning:

1. The app reads into table storage

2. It processes row by row

3. The processing is often disturbed by reboots of the VM

I am looking into Availability sets as a solution but it appears to be for applications that will always be ready to receive instructions, and not perform by themselves. It was a long discussion on why place the app in a VM and not a worker role.

Sorry if this question has already been asked. If so, I will appreciate if I can be redirected to the answer.

Thanks in advance!
