Disks can't be detached from VM/Service

Hi,

I already searched the forums but without any luck on this case.

Until yesterday I was using 2 Virtual Machines for development purposes. Yesterday I started both machines, but only one succeded with booting. The other one failed to boot and stayed in the state RoleStateUnknown.

I stopped both machines, and according to the artice here, tried to export and import the failing VM configuration. The import failed on the command New-AzureVM as it seems the disk is still attached to the deleted VM.

Then I tried to detach the disk but in the Azure Portal under Virtual Machines -> Disks the "Delete" button was disabled. The PowerShell command Remove-AzureDisk ran with the error:

Remove-AzureDisk : BadRequest: A disk with name [disk name] is currently in use by virtual machine [VM name] running within hosted service [service name].

Running Get-AzureDisk confirmed that the disk is still associated with the VM and the service, but both, the service and the VM have already been removed/deleted.

I have read that sometimes it simply takes time until the association is removed, but my disks are in this state for the last 24 hours. Are there any other ways orphaned disks can be detached from a VM?

Best Regards, Armin
