Hello,
I am not sure whether this is a correct forum, but I could not find better at the moment:
We are trying to leverage Azure servers in AD Disaster Recovery practice. The idea is to restore the whole on-premises AD database on a server (domain controller) on Azure. The environment should be totally isolated from production, so there's no VPN or similar connection to on-premises LAN.
I understand with Azure Site Recovery I could basically clone a DC to Azure, but since there's no local Hyper-V environment, that is too big of an effort right now, too much extra servers and infrastructure to setup.
Just by restoring a system state backup is not working, since you can't logon to server/DC after restore - that would require console access to do anything with the server.
The on-premises DC's are all Windows Server 2008 R2, and that is the domain & forest functional level, the forest contains one single domain.
Any suggestions are welcome - I've been struggling with this for a while now. Thanks!
