The operation cannot be performed because the virtual machine is faulted.

I have 40+ virtual machines running under a paid subscription.

The machines start and stop on schedules and every so often I get machines stuck on "Could not start".

When I try and start this with verbose logging on I see that it says "The operation cannot be performed because the virtual machine is faulted."

I read on an earlier post back in 2013 that this can be resolved by changing the size of the VM. However in my scenario I cannot continue resizing the VM's all of the time. And the only size of VM that seems stable is Standard A4.

I have also tried deleting and recreating the VM's but this may resolve for a period of time but it comes back.

Has Microsoft found the root cause of this issue as this is a poor user experience?
