I'm trying to build a SharePoint farm in Azure to be used as a development environment. I have found several articles on how to set up the farm including the domain controller in Azure. However, the dev environment will only be used on occassion so I would like to be able to delete the entire farm (so I don't incur cost when not using) and then recreate when needed with all configurations intact.
I have tried to delete and recreate using the VHD that was created when I first created my VMs, however, I received an error (nondescript did not note).
The main problem is with the domain controller. Is recreating from the VHD the best way to recreate my domain controller, or is there a better way. I have read exporting / importing a VM using powershell is a good way to delete / recreate VMs, but not sure if it will work with a domain controller.
