I have provisioed a VM and as we know, every time it restarts it get a new IP Address. We have XML transmission with our distributors and one of their requirements is to provide them with a "fixed" IP Address of my server they are submitting
to. Therefore I need to have a fixed - reserved- Public IP Address for th VM so that as the VM is rebooted, its IP Address does not change.

How to run update.php from command line on a Windows 2012 server VM?
Hi,
I have a MediaWiki running on an Azure VM with Windows Server 2012 and installed an extension so need to run the update.php script to complete the update. I tried using the web updater to do this (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Update.php#From_the_browser), but got an error. So I am trying to run the update.php from a command line (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Update.php#From_the_command_line), but am getting an error when trying to do this as well.
I ran cmd.exe as an administrator, navigated to the directory where the update.php file is located, then tried to run the command '$ php update.php' and got an error that '$ is not a recognized command'. I couldn't find any help on Bing or Google either. Can someone point me to the correct way to do this? Thanks.

I have created SP 13 farm on Azure VM after AD installation and running fine at Azure VM
But I could not access from my local laptop using below URL
http://sp13dev/sites/SP13Dev/ Or http://sp13dev.cloudapp.net/sites/SP13Dev/
Domain is - SP13Dev.com
Where SP13Dev is machine name and Team site template ( both names are same)
I have given "Everyone" permission at Web level from Central Admin.
How can I access from local other network ? When I try to access , then "Server not found" page comes.

I have an installer that I want to run on a Virtual Machine, during the install the installer asks the user to select a Drive and insert the DVD (2014 SQL Server) and then it installs sql server with the appropriate setup required..

Does password reset in the AzurePortal work on Linux VM?

Im running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as a VM on Azure.
I've stupidly buggered up the permissions on sudo and am now getting the following error when trying to execute a sudo command: sudo: must be setuid root
I was looking at the Azure Portal (preview) and found a password reset option under the VM settings.

I was hoping that i could add a new user on the Linux VM that would have sudo privileges but i cant get seem to get it to work. Has anyone had any luck with this?
Alternately, can anyone suggest what i can do to restore my sudo privileges?

Remote Desktop Connection Keeps Failing.
Hello Team,
I need your assistance. I created 10 new VMs on azure yesterday and was able to configure them well and install all the applications I wanted. Today when I tried accessing the VMs via RDP, I could only reach some of the machines but not all.
So my question is, what causes this, when today you're able to access the VMs successfully and tomorrow they time out with the normal RDP error Remote access to the server is not enabled, the computer is turned off,the remote computer is not available on the network...... yet all that is done
Also, I am considering doing a point to site connection, will this affect my VMs and the current Virtual Network setup or not? and do i need to configure a new virtual network for this or I can just use the existing one?

How to Create a Second Free Subscription under an Existing Account
I have careated an account and a Subscription for a free Azure Account. I created a VM from a Gallery Image with Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008. I created a Storage as well.
I have been working on it and transferion my files and now beginning to setup the server. I have been loosing the $200 credit for the free account like crazy! Majority of the charge is for SQL Server. It is already less than $100 left.
I need to spend some time configuring it & testing to make sure everything works. And I would liek to do that part without paying a fortune for it!
1. I have stopped all SQL Server services until I get to my SQL Server setup & configuration. Does it stop charges for SQL Server so that money last a bit longer?
2. I tried to create another subscription under that account but it does not let me do that saying that I already used my ONE free subscription. Is there a way around it?
Did I mension that we are Microsoft Partner with Silver Competency?

Hello, we are migrating our website to Azure and we have the domains in 1&1.
To change the DNS, 1&1 asks for at least 2, the main one and other secundary.
My question is, if our virtual machine has only 1 DNS, how can we get another one?

Can I use my VM Image from one Account to create a VM under another Account
I have careated a FreeAzure Account and Subscription . I created a VM from a Gallery Image with Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008. I created a Storage as well. I have copied all my website folders and SQL Databases to the storage which is attached to the VM.
This is a temporary Account.
I am configuring the server and after it is ready to go live, I want to run it under my MS Account (We are MS Partner).
After everything is ready, I would like to create an Image of the VM and then create a VM under my MS Partner Account using this Image.
1.Is this possible?
2.I also like to either attach VM under my MS Partner Account to this Storage, or copy the content on this Storage to one I create under my MS Partner Account. Is this possible?

Microsoft Cluster Service in Azure VM..
Hi,
I have created a 2 node failover cluster in Azure VM using FSW quorum successfully.
Now when I am trying to access any of the cluster node using Cluster Name or IP address, I am unable to do that. but it wroks fine when I create failover cluster in non azure vm or physical server.
I saw the below post, it looks like Microsoft doesn't support accessing cluster nodes using cluster Name or IP address but this post is almost a year old.
Can anybody suggest if it is supported now or Microsoft came up with some workaround.
Note: I understand that SQL listener can be used if we are setting up Failover-cluster for SQL always on, but I am not setting up the cluster for SQL.
I will appreciate a quick response.

Move both "System" Disk and "OS" Disk to Azure VM
Hi guys,
I am testing Azure VM Migration. It's OK and very well almost case, such as: HyperV to Az; VMware to Az; ...
When I try to use MVMC 3.0, it helps me to capture physical to Hyper-V VM. However, it returned results include 3 separated vhds: 1 system disk; 1 OS (C) disk and 1 Data (D) disk. If I use Disk2VHD, it only return 1 .vhd
So how to create new Azure VM based on 3 separated vhds? Because I only see 1 slot for OS disk - they don't have definition for "System" partition in Azure VM.

Services in China Region
I can see in the Azure Website (http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/regions/#overview) that we can order resources in China region. But i don't see that option under Regions while trying to provision a VM. I remember seeing a statement in Azure website mentioning that in order to order services in Australia region one must have the billing address in Australia or NewZealand. Is the approach similar for China too?
I tried to lookup the regions through PowerShell - Get-AzureLocation. But this didn't return the China location in results.
Can anyone please let me know how to set up an account for China region and order resources?

VM ( linux VM 14.10 Ubuntu) with CIFS mount systematically become unresponsive after inactivity!
I use a file share on an azure storage to share persistent data across multiple VMs. The file share is mounted on all my VMs using
# mount –t cifs //ACCOUNT_NAME.file.core.windows.net/SHARE/mnt/DIRECTORY -o vers=2.1,username=ACCOUNT_NAME,password=ACCESS_KEY,dir_mode=0777,file_mode=0777
*ALL* VMs when left on for more than about a day without any activity become unresponsive. Specifically, I can still ssh into the VM but an "ls" command on the path where the share is mounted will time out. The only solution is to restart the VM but
his is untenable in the long run.
Has anyone encountered this?

Edit ACL on Endpoint - Cannot save changes - Save greyed out
I have a trial subscription to Azure. I created my first Windows 2012 VM. I can successfully access the VM remotely.
I'm attempting to add ACLs to the Endpoints. In this example it is an HTTP Endpoint.
The ACL statement is accepted, like so
Order | Name | Action | Remote Subnet
1 | Namex | Permit | 192.168.28.0/19
(Altered Remote Subnet)
I have no option to Save the edits. It is greyed out. If I attempt to move on to a different menu, I get a warning about unsaved edits will be lost. When I click away and click back, the ACL is lost.
I basically have no method to save even the simplest of ACL statements. What am I doing wrong?

After subscription was renewed cannot start VMs...

My BizSpark subscription ran out of credit, i therefore entered CC and ordered it. It now says everything is okay. The problem is that i cannot start the VMs on the account (have 2)
I get error:
- The server encountered an internal error. Please retry the request. The long running operation tracking ID was: c618e4d9a11b9f5fa379a8bdb5e2f49a
Have tried to reconfigure them, and tried to stop and start the cloud services, to no help at all..
Please help urgently..

Max disk size limited to 1TB?
We do have our entire infrastructure on Azure, now we need a VM with a disk larger than 1TB but it looks like this is not possible. Could you please confirm?
We need a single disk with > 1TB (I know you can attach more than a disk but this wouldn't work for us).

401 Unauthorized for cloudservice
Hi , I have deployed SSRS reports on SQL Virtual machines (IaaS)and the configured report server on cloud service URL i.e
http://eastasiasqlsvc.cloudapp.net/ReportServer , now i can not able to access the URL and i am getting HTTP/1.1 401
Can anyone let me know how can provide access to a domain user for cloud azure service for IaaS ?

Azure VM RDP logs from powershell
I need to monitor Azure VM for RDP access, something like if some one has accessed my VM since last 24 hours.
Is there a way I can query azure VM object from powershell to get such data ?
May be remote powershell invoke to read some sort of event logs to determine when user had RDP into VM.
Or any other way to determine VM has been ideal since last X hours ?
