Hi,
We are looking to sign up for a 30 day trial. Before we do, I want to make sure we move in the right direction in terms of platform.
We have a current solution in the cloud that we run three Windows 2008 R2 VM’s in a workgroup One SQL Server VM – heavily dependent on SQL Database Mail and SQL Scheduled Jobs , One Web Server VM, One RDP server that uses RemoteApp to distribute a Windows Client application after connecting to a VPN. We also use the RDP server to run several windows applications (windows service and scheduled task). We are interested in moving to the Azure Environment. We would like to leverage the native Azure platform. but we believe that we must stick to VM’s for now due to the dependence on SQL Database Mail, SQL Scheduled Jobs, SQL Azure SQL statement compatibility as well as the Windows Client applications. Would there be a way to support those items in a native Azure environment – assuming we take care of the SQL Statement compatibility issues? If not would it be possible to have a hybrid solution where the web would be on native Azure and VM’s for the RDP Server with RemoteApp and VPN and SQL Server with a shared drive for storage? If not, then have all three VM’s as we have today, but newer O/S (Windows 2016) and shared drive. Is RemoteApp supported on a Windows 2016 workgroup VM? Can a VPN be setup through Azure to access the RDP (RemoteApp) server?
