Apologies if this has been asked & answered already but... I can't log into a newly created Azure VM for some reason.
Details
- just signed up for MSDN and Azure today as MS employee (possible delay in provisioning??)
- created Windows Server 2008 VM per Azure instructions in training guide
- deployed to Southeast Asia Data Center (very slow to startup but otherwise all is good at this point)
- attempt to sign into VM per instructions; verified that I'm using correct credentials for the VM (Live ID + VM-specific password)
- receive error that RDP failed to authenticate me with that password; after repeated failures I tried Live account password even though I know that's not what is being asked for
- deleted VM and retried 3 times; last time I tried deploying 2012 Data Center Server VM to the Western US Data Center
Still not working. Any suggestions?
*** 5PM Update. I solved this problem. *****
I would feel dumb but I noticed other knowledgeable users banging their head on the same issue. The RDP dialog that pops up assumes you want to log into your home domain using your domain credentials. I saw this initially and changed to my Live.com credentials, but... that was not correct. I needed to use the VM user credentials. My bad. For others who might have this same problem, be sure to enter your VM user name as "\VMUserName" in the user name part of the RDP dialog. Then all is well.
Quick note to the Azure team. It would be good to update the tutorial to be explicit on this point.
