Hello,
Quick question as I can't find a straight answer anywhere.
If you have invested in using an SQL Server Enterprise Virtual Machine image, and you would like to upgrade to a newer version of SQL Server (eg. 2012 --> 2014, 2014 --> soon to be 2016), what is the correct process/workflow?
I can assume in the worst case a owner of a SQL Server VM will not have access to MSDN downloads and a image of the new SQL Server they are trying to install. What are they expected to do in this instance?
IF the SQL Server VM owner DOES have access to the new image via MSDN downloads, if they upgrade via this download will the VM costs still only be charged per the runtime of the VM (inclusive of SQL Server enterprise costs).
Any clarification on the above would be great.
Regards
Richard
