Hi,
It appears that, in Azure v1, aStandard storage account is somehow holding Premium data disks. What is going on?
Evidence:
- I have created a DS_14 VM with 16 data disks attached.
- I have created a Standard_LRS storage account
- I have placed the OS disk and the 16 data disks in that Standard_LRS storage account.
- I can confirm that the storage account (in ASM) is indeed a Standard_LRS:
- I can confirm that my VM's data disk are indeed located in that storage account:
- And I can confirm that my VM is indeed a DS-tier VM:

Further, I have performed read/write tests, and confirmed that the measured IOPS of this VM far exceeds the maximum IOPS of this VM if its data disks were standard storage data disks (that limit would be [16 data disks] * [500 IOPS per data disk] = 8000 maximum IOPS for standard storage).
So, summary: somehow premium data disks are being stored in a standard storage account. What is going on?
