I am testing recovery services and would like to enable Azure VM Protection for the entire VM, not just the file system backup through the agent.
I created a backup vault in the same region as my DS1 series test machine exists (East US 2).
I click the discover and my VM does not show up as an option to protect, why?
I installed the vm backup agent on the machine and have that part working, but I do not want file system protection, I want the protection of the whole machine so I can easily restore / clone, etc.
I am thinking when I go to do a major upgrade or want a quick test environment, I don't want to have to setup a new VM and recover my files, I want to click to clone and I'd like the backing up of the original image to be done without downtime. It looks like that is what the new recovery features in Azure allows, but I can't seem to get it to work with my DS series machine even though the region I am in is now supported by recovery services...please advise.
