We have had VMs in unresponsive state with RDP unavailable. Stop-AzureVM is only working with -Force, but restart is still not working, the message from Az is "could not start". The solution so far has been to resize the server and then a restart is successful.
There is not much in the VM eventlogs except a Kernel error due to the forceful stop and a few entrys in the Azure log for the VM:
Process
1.606861E+07
Working Set - Private
WindowsAzureGuestAgent
2.5.1198.702:6.1.7601.65536:7168#4
The message id for the desired message could not be found
Log name: Microsoft-WindowsAzure-Diagnostics/GuestAgent
Source: Diagnostic
Event ID: 7
The server is installed using the 2012 R2 image from the gallery. Only one third party application, a client for accounting software. No AntiVirus. Backup for Azure Vault is installed.
Anyone with the same experience and how did you solve it?
