Console App runs slower on VM vs local desktop. Few minutes quicker on Amazon AWS. Why?
App simply connects to Azure DB to download two data sets
1 with 5K rows
2nd with 100K rows.
App then loops each row in 1 looking up data in 2, applies some logic to both and then saves the results back to SQL Azure.
App on my desktop (4 cores, 4GB ram) runs in less than 2 minutes while the same app takes 6 minutes on 4 Core VM with 8GB RAM.
2 Core AWS server with 4GB takes 6 minutes.
We have tried building a release with AMD processor. No difference.
Very odd. Anyone else experience this or any tips.
