Newbie End User Trying to Create Virtual Desktop

Hi,

I'm trying to create a desktop in the cloud so I can run 2 windows software applications (Quickbooks and 1 other). This is in lieu of purchasing another desktop PC.

I signed up for a free trial on Azure, created a virtual 2008 Server R2, and it seems completely over my head as to what the next steps are to create a desktop environment that I would use as a substitute for a PC on my desk.

Any help in pointing me to a "how to" set of step would be appreciated.
