I have an azure virtual machine in production for the last several months. Tonight the vm started having a problem running the console application that it runs on schedule every night. So I logged into the virtual machine through the remote desktop connection
that I have been using for months. When I logged in it told me it needed to restart to apply the new windows updates. I guess the windows updates are what screwed up my nightly console application. So I clicked the button on the prompt to "restart now."
Then I closed the remote desktop connection. Ten minutes later I tried to login through the remote desktop connection and it would not connect. So I logged into the azure management portal and restarted my virtual machine from there. Then after it was running
again. I tried to login using the remote desktop connection and again I could not get in. I tried for a couple of hours to get in from remote desktop. I restarted the vm from the azure portal many times and still I cannot get in via remote desktop. I made
sure my norton firewall was turned off and it still cannot connect via remote desktop.
I am very confused as to why I have always been able to use remote desktop to get into my azure virtual machine and after the windows updates, which the virtual machine forced me to apply, I cannot connect via remote desktop. This is a production machine and it is dead for now so any help is greatly appreciated.
