I have IaaS with 2 vm's running in a cloud service. One VM is a windows server machine with IIS 8.0 serving a web application. I updated the public dns in my network solutions to the IP address of the azure cloud service. I found that after shutting down the vm's for a day or so (to save on billing), the azure cloud service got a new public IP address when I restarted them.
My question:
How can I stop this from happening? I had to update the dns in network solutions for the domain to the new IP address so my users could get public access to the website. during the time the dns was updating, all my user's were down. please advise.
Please don't tell me I have to keep a vm running at all times. I have thousands of users accessing the application over SSL, I cannot lose the Public IP address.
