Hi,
Adding a brand new Ubuntu 12.0.4 LTS VM (based on stock 08-Apr-2014 image) into an existing cloud service gives strange behaviour for the DNS.
On the VM itself:
1) "hostname" is reported correctly
2) "hostname --fqdn" reports only the host part of the name and does not concatenate the dnsdomainname
3) On other Linux VMs in the same cloud service:
dig / nslookup of the hostname results in failure (no host found).
4) Also in the Web UI for Azure the hostname field is marked as '-' whereas on older VMs it correctly shows the VM's hostname.
It looks like DHCP is not registering the hostname in DNS. - this is consistent and repeatable, a reboot does not solve this problem.
Can you take a look please?
