I want to install an application on an MS Azure vm that uses FLEXlm for it's license management. The software vendor generates a license for the application using the MAC address of the machine it is installed on. It appears the MAC address of the virtual machine can change which would cause the application to fail, requiring generation of a new license from the software vendor based on the new MAC address.
It seems the only "safe" solution would be to install a Flexlm license server on a physical machine outside of the cloud and have the vm application pull it's license from it. Is this my only solution?
