I've tried to create two A4 Basic VMs in the US East region in the last 2 days using the Visual Studio 2013 image. Both VMs were very sluggish via RDP, taking several seconds to do simple things like open Windows Explorer.
Additionally, I can't seem to create a VM that is actually in the US East region. When I try to use Bing or Google, they are treating me like I am in Brazil. My suspicion is that the VM is actually hosted in Brazil, which is why the RDP experience is so slow.
This is frustrating on several levels.
1.) I was hoping to use this instance as a virtual development environment, but the sluggish nature of the remote desktop experience makes this all but impossible.
2.) I want a server based on the east coast since that's where I live. Trying to change the settings of every website I use back to US English is a huge pain.
This is my first experience with Azure and so far we're not starting out on the right foot. I really want to like this, but right now I'm just frustrated.
How can I create a VM that is actually in the eastern US?
Thanks.
