VS VM Image - 'Extended Trial' has expired

I just learned today about the Azure VM Images for Visual Studio. I provisioned one and then signed into Visual Studio on the VM with my Microsoft Account and received a message that the 'extended trial' had expired. It requested that I either provide a product key or exit Visual Studio. I chose the latter until I found out what was going on.  I have a 'static activation key' that comes with my MSDN subscription.  Can I use that with the VM image?  Or are the VS VMs different?
