Hi,
I have just created my very first Azure virtual machine and was curious about a couple of internet connection related things.
To create my machine, I did it the simplest way possible - create new machine with the inbuilt Windows Server 2012R2 template. I then connected to it using the provided rdp and all looks fine.
I read in a few forum posts that for the virtual machine to be able to connect to the internet, I would need to create a public endpoint. However, it seems that I didn't need to do this as I spun up Internet Explorer and could immediately browse web sites - have things changed recently such that a template vm gets a few extra things out of the box like internet connectivity? I checked out the endpoints and there are only 2 there (powershell and remote desktop), both presumably created by the template.
The other thing that is weird on this subject is that it also seems to have a public virtual ip address (as indicated on the dashboard) - again something else I was led to believe from the forums that this would have to be setup manually.
Is this all standard out-of-the-box stuff now?
Cheers
Dan
