My VMs were stopped (deallocated) to save on charges for a few days. Now that they have been restarted, I have internal DNS issues. Running 2 Windows 2012 servers and I can no longer log into the member server as a result. The DC server cannot find itself (getting event ID 5775: The dynamic deletion of the DNS record 'ForestDnsZones.domain.local. 600 IN A 10.1.3.5' failed on the following DNS server... and Event ID 5781: Dynamic registration or deletion of one or more DNS records associated with DNS domain 'DomainDnsZones.domain.local.' failed. ).
I've run DCDIAG and get:
Testing server: Default-First-Site-Name\SERVER1Starting test: Connectivity
The host
0f286cf1-71b3-4e62-a642-3dbe06332688._msdcs.domain.local could
not be resolved to an IP address. Check the DNS server, DHCP, server
name, etc.
Got error while checking LDAP and RPC connectivity. Please check your
firewall settings.
......................... SERVER1 failed test Connectivity
Not sure why this is happening internally if external IPs are reassigned after being deallocated. RDWeb is no longer functional because the member server (SERVER2) can't see the DC.
How do I resolve?
