I need to be able to make my Windows Store application available from within a VM, hosted within Windows Azure. however, it appears that you can only run Windows Store apps from within Windows 8 and NOT from within any of the Windows Server OS versions - from which you can quickly create VMs in Azure.
So... I set out the last few days to upload my own Windows 8 VHD onto Windows Azure, only to find out that I cannot upload my Windows 8 VHD via 'csupload.exe' because I cannot get the 'Windows Azure Integration Components' installed onto this VHD because, when I run the required .MSI, it tells me that I must be running Windows Server 2008!
What do I need to do in order to accomplish my goal? This seems crazy to not have a pre-existing Windows 8 VHD available and just charge customers the standard VM rates, just like the server OSes provide? Why is this not available? And even if it is not currently available, how can I host my own Windows 8 VMs within Azure - even if I have to go through the horrible added cost of paying for the individual Windows 8 licenses, in addition to the cost of hosting the VMs within Azure?
Thank you for your advice in advance!
Ben
