403 forbidden when accessing Zoopla.co.uk - Netherlands data centre

Hi,

Please excuse me if I am posting in the wrong forum, I am relatively new to Azure and MS IT forums in general but I am stuck and any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a VM setup for hosted desktop use and it is currently residing in West Europe (Netherlands -data centre) and my problem is that it is used by a property management company that frequently access the zoopla.co.uk property website. Since yesterday users are receiving a 403 forbidden http error when attempting to access the site.

I have tested other Azure VMs residing in different geographic locations and all can access without error, therefore the problem seems to reside with the geographic location.

I have restarted the VM from the portal in order to renew the IP address and eliminate a blocked IP but this did not resolve. When setting a public proxy in a different location access is no problem.

any ideas or known issues out there pls???

Migrating Legacy Application

Hi,

I am migrating a legacy ASP.NET application on Azure. The application uses Microsoft.Excel.Interop dll to work with MS-Excel.

In context of the above I have the following queries -

1. If migrated to Azure VM (IaaS) then can we install office on these virtual machines ? Can there be a licensing issue ?

2. If migrated to PaaS platform using a web app then what is the alternative to handle this Excel functionality ?

Please reply to me ASAP with your inputs.

Thanks

I domain-joined this client machine with the DC(in Azure). After successfully adding my machine to the domain, my machines restarted and now when I try to login in with domain credentials, I get an error 'No logon servers are available to provide login services' . How to login with my domain credentials?

Available Storage Account Types for SharePoint 2013 Non-HA Farm image deployment

$

I'm trying to deploy a sharepoint image for testing purposes. At the moment, the only options I have for the storage account are "Premium Locally Redundant". Is this some sort of glitch on MS's part? I've been able to deploy SharePoint farms for testing purposes with the normal, cheap, locally redundant account type.

Anyone else having this issue?

Virtual Machine Port Won't Open

Hello all, I'm having difficulty opening a port to my Windows 2012 R2 Virtual Machine. I'm trying to publish a website from Visual Studio to IIS. I have the software installed and when using a netstat command I can see that the machine is listening on port 8172.

netstat -an

I have also been able to successfully connect to port 8172 on the local machine so I know the application is listening correctly and can make a connection on that port.

telnet localhost 8172

I then added an inbound security rule for the VM in the Azure management portal allowing port 8172 on TCP to the server.

I also added a rule to the software firewall on the server to allow port 8172.

After all of this configuration I am unable to connect to my VM from my desktop so to eliminate my network from equation I go to http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and check if it sees the port is open. The site confirms it cannot connect to the server on that port either.

Other Information:

  1. I also tried disabling the software firewall on the server entirely to see if I had configured it wrong somehow but it still did not work.
  2. I have opened ports 80, 443 and 1433 without any issues in the past but for some reason I can't get port 8172 to open.
  3. I am not using the classic VM and not using the classic Azure portal interface.
  4. I have deleted and readded the port forward rule more than once to know avail.

Anyone have any ideas?

Appreciate the help!

Can you have multiple SQL AGs on the same cluster?

"So building a #SQL AG in Azure #AzureResourceManager via DSC is not trivial :-(   Can you have multiple AG on same cluster?
Why in a  #SQL AG in Azure #AzureResourceManager do you have to have an internal load balancer?  Want to have multiple AG all on port 1433."

Getting developer access to VM server

Trying to get our new developer access to our VM server. However, when I add him as a user in the portal nothing happens on his end, no notifications, no email. So decided to just give him access with a username and password, but the reset password operation has been running for over an hour now and is still in progress.

What to do?

I have a VM with UDP and TCP (to be safe) endpoints enabled with private and public set to 19132.  I've turned off the Windows Firewall.  I have an receiver app running listening on port 19132 on the VM and a sending app on the web that sends to the IP:19132.  The sender reports "unable to connect".  I can't figure this out...any help will be appreciated.

Create Linux VM in New Azure Portal

Hi,

I am interested in creating VMs in the new azure portal using Resource Manager. However, this is a new concept to me and i have lack of experience to achieve my objective.

My objective is to have my own Nameserver in Linux CentOS 7.1. In order to achieve this, i need to have a hosting VM and NS vm. However, i need to enable the virtual private network between these machines for communication. May i know how can i achieve this step by step through resource manager?

Fixed Outgoing IP for .Net App on Azure?

$

Hi,

We have a .Net/SQL app on Azure (App is an 'App Service', connecting to a 'SQL database').

We need to have a fixed outgoing IP so that customers can allow our app to connect through their firewall to resources internal to their networks.

I've read that an AppService will use one of four possible outgoing IP addresses and we've had a test customer configure all four and that works well. However, this will not generally work. Customers will want just one IP address and also will want it to be private to us (i.e. not have the potential exposure of requests from any other Azure service).

How can we do this? If there is a solution for our App Service, that'll be great (and I'd kind of expect this option to be available). If not, how else can we configure this?

I can see the option to create a Reserved 'Public IP Address' resource, which sounds perfect. Is there anyway to 'wire' this to our App Service?

Can we use a 'Virtual Network' resource somehow to achieve this?

Do we need to move the app to a Cloud Service, VM, App Service Environment, etc, etc?

Cost is an issue - the App Service is on the 'Standard: 1 Medium' pricing plan and this meets our resource needs just fine. I'm happy to pay a little more to provision additional resources (e.g. paying for a fixed IP address), but don't want to scale up costs too significantly (I've heard that an ASE solution can be very expensive).

I also know that we can use an external fixed IP proxy service, but that would be a last resort as we want it all on one nice manageable platform. I've also read that AWS provide this (and in my struggle to get MSDN to provide us with our technical support contract - its taken 4 hours so far and now I'm giving up! - I was told by MSDN UK that going to AWS might be the simplest option for us - surely not!).

So, how do we do this? I'm assuming that we can achieve this with a VM, but I don't fancy the extra overhead in maintaining a server instance - one of the many reasons for moving to PaaS.

Any suggestions?

Hi

I am getting WSA 10054 error: 'An existing connection was forcibly closed be the remote host. Read socket failed error WSA 10054'. What does it mean and how do I check what the actual issue is? I am connecting with an application to a SQL2012 server. Some users can connect without any issue.

pre-purchase / single VM availability questions

$

Hello

I've been reading a lot about Azure in the last months, but some questions remained unanswered:

- I have read about the Compute Pre-Purchase plan which lowers the cost of virtual machine if the customer pays one year in advance. This is only available with an Enterprise Agreement. But what are the requirements to get such an agreement? How much volume would I need?

- There are some rumours about a new feature which allow Microsoft to patch their hosts without a reboot so that a SLA for single instance virtual machines can be provided. (Link: http://up2v.nl/2015/10/08/big-news-for-azure-9999-sla-for-single-instance-vms-before-year-end/) Do you know more about that? I couldn't find more information on the topic.

We have customers with legacy applications. For them, a constantly running VM on Azure would be more expensive than at a "traditional" provider. And their applications are unable to be run in a cluster, so it's a problem if Azure shuts the VM down while patching the host.

Thank you very much for your help!
